Dear Westminster Family,
Serving as your pastor these last years has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. It has been my singular endeavor to proclaim Jesus Christ & Him crucified and the Lord has been kind and faithful to bless his Word. Now, Christ has bid me follow Him, and I must go. But I leave with an overwhelming sense of gratitude. I am grateful to you, the saints of Westminster, for receiving the Word of God with eagerness and joy. Thank you for allowing me into your hearts, homes, and hospital rooms. Thank you for inviting me to walk beside you through life’s valleys and over life’s peaks. Thank you for loving my family as your own. Thank you for the shared laughter and tears of genuine friendship. Thank you for praying for me.
I am also grateful to the Lord for entrusting the jewel of His gospel in an earthen vessel like me and calling me to serve His bride and feed His sheep. I am grateful that He has blessed Westminster with faithful officers who love the church. I am grateful that He remains sovereign over every season, working all things together for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose. I am especially grateful to the Lord for providentially raising up Stephen Spinnenweber to labor in the capacity of the minister of the word as the church seeks her next pastor. It is my prayer that you will recognize and rejoice in the Lord’s blessing and provision in him. Stephen is a man of rare virtue, wisdom, skill, and zeal. I am confident that he will serve you well. Pray for him as you prayed for me. Embrace his dear wife, Sarah, as you embraced Jordan. Cherish his son, Reid, as you cherished my children.
To you falls the great and grave responsibility of seeking a pastor to fill Westminster’s pulpit whose preaching is simple and full of Christ Crucified; the only kind of preaching the Spirit will bless. God grant that you would have the same mind, the same love, and that you would be in full accord with one another. God grant that you would seek a man as the Greeks sought Phillip saying, “Sir, we would see Jesus.” God grant that you would call a weak man with a mighty Savior.
Beloved, I will pray for you. Please remember me and my family in your prayers.
Holding you in my heart,
