Jim McCarthy was born into a Navy family in Jacksonville, FL. During the summer of his 13th year, at an FCA camp in the mountains of Asheville, NC, he heard and believed the gospel and surrendered his life to Christ. After graduating from Nease High School in 2004, he attended Eckerd College to study medicine; but after perceiving an internal calling to vocational ministry, he switched his major from biology to a double major in religious studies and history. He returned to Jacksonville in 2008 to work as a social studies teacher and head swim coach at Ponte Vedra High School. In 2010, he married his best friend, Jordan. Together, the McCarthys moved to Greenville, SC, where Jordan taught at Mitchel Road Christian Academy while Jim studied at Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. During the course of his studies, he served the saints of Second Presbyterian Church as the Director of Student Ministries. In 2014, the McCarthys moved home to Jacksonville when Jim was invited to serve as a pastoral intern during his final year of seminary. After receiving his degree, he was called as Associate Pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church. One year later, he was called to be the Senior Pastor. The Lord has blessed Jim and Jordan with two beautiful daughters, Ellie and Julia.
